[everyone get in here nye party post]

A new year is almost upon us, and that's as good as an excuse as any to whip out some multidimensional ballroom inviting everyone to a part, whether they wanted to be here or not! Accept the invite, throw it out, any of your characters, be they from previous games or even new characters you want to throw around, will find themselves walking through a door at some point and showing up at the party in whatever constitutes as "fancy attire" in their own heads.[ Bring any character you want! Specify what game canon you're bringing them from, or if they're simply from normal canon, or even if any of them can be on request! Something like [character name] | [dwrp game name canon or original canon], etc, etc! Catch up with old CR, meet people for the first time, mistake an AU version of a villain for the actual villain! Do whatever you want, bbs, it's New Year's Eve! ]
There is a huge buffet and plenty to drink, a dancefloor with some phantom band playing music from any world and century, and balconies that will be opened just in time for the fireworks show just before the countdown to midnight begins!
Of course, feel free to escape the balconies earlier than that for some fresh air if that suits you better. They aren't locked or anything. The only thing that is locked are the front and back doors! Yeah, you can't leave, though everyone will get to go before dawn, honest.
That said, other places attached to the ballroom are also open. The kitchens that are mysteriously empty but always making sure the tables are full, the library and various closets and sitting rooms to sneak away to... Try not to burn anything down or blow anything up, but, well, there are certainly smaller, hand-lit fireworks to be found in some places... It is New Year's Eve, after all.
And at midnight, be sure to be by someone you like (or really hate!), because the urge to get a New Year's [Affectionate Action of Choice], be it a kiss or a hug or something as simple as a hair ruffle, in becomes immediately irresistible.
Of course, just as midnight hits, there's the fireworks show, too! As mentioned before, shuffle on out onto a balcony to watch a huge display of gorgeous fireworks exploding across the sky in every color imaginable!

You're askin' too much of these guys.
[ Especially when there are several unfamiliar faces, some more excitable than others, running loose. Shinjiro huffs in typical fashion, before regarding Siffrin with a critical eye. ]
...How you been holding up?

I'm... alright? A little overwhelmed, I guess.
[ Very overwhelmed. ]
How about you?

There's plenty of empty rooms around here.
[ Just an off-suggestion. He won't tell anyone if they want to go shove their head in a closet. ]
Fine. [ Tongue-click. ] If I hadn't been stuck trying to learn a whole damn new language years after droppin' out, anyway.

[ They can't remember how they ended up learning Vaugardian, but thinking about it even a little makes it obvious that there had to be a moment when he probably couldn't speak anything but his own language. And if they were unable to do that...

Every time that I travel to a new country I try to pick up how locals talk. But it's hard, because sometimes they speak differently in different parts of the country.
[ ...Huh. ]
Too bad we didn't ask that Magi to let us understand every language outside of that place.

[ The smallest mercy is that the spoken language is fine. Communicating is easy. It's when they start handing him books or he tries to read signs that it all comes to bite him in the ass. ]
...You've been travelling, too, huh? [ Probably a good thing, is the faint thought. ] Dialects are different everywhere you go. Even back home, depends on the region. You just gotta deal with it.
[ ...A snort. ]
Well, too late now. Coulda saved myself from sticking my nose in too many books.
