A new year is almost upon us, and that's as good as an excuse as any to whip out some multidimensional ballroom inviting everyone to a part, whether they wanted to be here or not! Accept the invite, throw it out, any of your characters, be they from previous games or even new characters you want to throw around, will find themselves walking through a door at some point and showing up at the party in whatever constitutes as "fancy attire" in their own heads.

There is a huge buffet and plenty to drink, a dancefloor with some phantom band playing music from any world and century, and balconies that will be opened just in time for the fireworks show just before the countdown to midnight begins!

Of course, feel free to escape the balconies earlier than that for some fresh air if that suits you better. They aren't locked or anything. The only thing that is locked are the front and back doors! Yeah, you can't leave, though everyone will get to go before dawn, honest.

That said, other places attached to the ballroom are also open. The kitchens that are mysteriously empty but always making sure the tables are full, the library and various closets and sitting rooms to sneak away to... Try not to burn anything down or blow anything up, but, well, there are certainly smaller, hand-lit fireworks to be found in some places... It is New Year's Eve, after all.

And at midnight, be sure to be by someone you like (or really hate!), because the urge to get a New Year's [Affectionate Action of Choice], be it a kiss or a hug or something as simple as a hair ruffle, in becomes immediately irresistible.

Of course, just as midnight hits, there's the fireworks show, too! As mentioned before, shuffle on out onto a balcony to watch a huge display of gorgeous fireworks exploding across the sky in every color imaginable!

[ ...because he is. That is exactly where he is. Childermass, whose idea of "fancy attire" is a clean version of his usual clothing, the white shirt and cravat, the vest, the overcoat, is lurking outside on one of the various balconies with his pipe lit and idly smoking it. He leans casually against the balcony railing, looking back through the open doors to watch the rest of the going-ons, but, well.

It's Childermass.

If you want him to do anything other than hang out here, you'll have to pester him. ]

[ Although being out on a balcony already puts him in the perfect spot to watch fireworks when midnight approaches! Only even Childermass isn't immune to the sudden urge to turn towards whoever is next to him and... what? Well, it depends on who it is, honestly! Depending on who it is, there's a high chance it will be very begrudging, too. Oh boy. ]

[ Eli wasn't exactly pleased to get nabbed for yet another multi-dimensional something-or-other, especially when it's stuffed him in a suit. Why! Why this dress-up shit again! He's already undone the bowtie and unbuttoned the shirt by a few buttons out of sheer disdain for it all...

And then he immediately followed his nose to the buffet table. Where else would an eternally hungry teenage werewolf go? He's piling a plate up with anything that looks good, though not before picking it up with his fingers and sniffing it... and anything he doesn't like the smell of?

Putting it back on the plate. Despite having touched it. Yeah. ]

ii. fireworks bad actually

...fuck, that's loud.

[ Shit's different when you have all your powers on for a multi-dimensional hop and when the fireworks begin going off, Eli wrinkles his nose and retreats indoors after the first few, hands over his ears. None of that means he's escaping the sudden need to show affection, but do you intercept for a hug? A peck on the cheek? Or just help him find somewhere quieter for sharp hearing, like the nice person you are? ]

[ Siffrin is enjoying their time outside of the loops! Any people from [setting] will realize that the wizard hat they were running around with is now missing, and their hair is a lot nicer as it has been brushed. It's obvious it's Siffrin, though, because even with their suit on, they're still wearing their white cloak.

They are staying away from the rest of the crowd, though, as they're idly working through a plate full of food. Looks like that almost insatiable appetite is something that won't change either! He won't mind if someone sits in the same table. Whether they're a stranger or someone he's known, he'll still do his best to smile and raise a glass of beer in a greeting. ]

really is a new year.

Months ago, they believed that they would never see a new day. Now here they were, seeing a new year. They're so far deep into their thoughts, that even the sound of the fireworks is nothing but a distant sound, the different shades fading into the lightless sky. He really did it. This is unequivocal proof that they broke out of the loops! It's a new year!!!

Overwhelmed with emotion, Siffrin laughs without realizing, and downs their drink in a couple of gulps. He's gonna need at least a few more of these. ]

[ he's a hermit who's only relatively recently been introduced to society, the best bet for 'fancy' you're going to get is a dressed up version of something that looks like it might have once been derived from a school uniform. cozy black sweater, under a white shirt or vest or something, then a longer jacket/overcoat up top appropriate for the weather for this time of year all over some nicely kept slacks both practical and neat-looking.

he's got a mildly deer in the headlights sort of look as the door deposits him- wherever it does in the room, before he rouses himself and ducks out of the way of another partygoer a little sheepishly. ]

[The best point to see the fireworks is clearly the highest point. Despite her heels, Nala is quite adept at climbing up, now that she no longer feels the need to hide her tail. She looks down at whoever approaches her impishly, her smile warming further if it's someone she knows]

A pink creature of sorts lingers around the grandest congregation of people - in the ballrom - rather smartly dressed, holding a mug of hot cocoa and seeming quite content(?) watching everyone else socializing or dancing in the ballroom.

Curiously, he never moves to join the festivities. He just watches. He's probably been watching you for awhile, even, just smiling and drinking cocoa. (How many cups has it been......?) Even if you make eye contact or make apparent signs of discomfort or questioning, he continues to watch, like you're his little aquarium fish at this eternal visit to the dentist's office. )

( Joining the crowd on the balcony, he gazes up at the fireworks leading up to midnight, hot cocoa once more in his hand. )

[ There’s a the tiniest bit of a wobble as Nala rests her weight on him, along with a small flinch. He quickly adjusts, searching for her hand to hold.

He's going to be spending the night dragging people out to the dance floor. Even people he's never met before will get a chance to dance if they're not careful.]
